2 Timothy 1:7 - Spirit of Fear (Devotions)
2 Timothy 1:7 (English Christian Standard Bible) "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment."
A "spirit of fear" is a dense fog that one breathes in, inescapably choking our heart and mind.
What can dispel a fear like that?
We are afraid when we're powerless; God gives us the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are afraid when we're alone or abandoned; God's perfect love casts out fear, because He will never leave us or forsake us.
Fear turns thoughts into an irrational prairie fire; but we have the mind of Christ, giving clarity to our minds and hearts.
God, dispel any spirit of fear with Your power, Your love, and with the mind of Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen
