Colossians 3:23-24 - Who's your boss?

Some days--especially when I have to do charting and paperwork--I'm working for Sanford.
When I am setting up an online course, I'm working for Northwest Iowa Community College.
When I write a sermon, I'm working for Grace Church.

I could "upgrade" that....
When I reading the Bible and counsel patients, I'm working for them.
When I grade assignments, I'm working for my students.
When I preach the sermon I've written, I'm working for my parishioners.

In mercenary terms: I'm working for income.
Positively speaking, I'm working to provide for my family.

That's why I need to constantly be reminded of this verse:
Colossians 3:23–24 (NASB95; NLT) — 23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for people, 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

So when we serve our patients, when we help our kids with homework, when we prepare meals, take out the garbage... whatever: we are serving the Lord.

Lord, fill our hearts with the joy of working for You today. Amen.
