Psalm 31:19 - Living in the Presence (Devotions)
Psalm 31:19-20 (New American Standard)
19 How great is Your goodness,
Which You have stored up for those who fear You,
Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You,
Before [In the presence of] the sons of men!
20 You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man;
You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues.
We can't always stop and read our Bible in the middle of the day. And we can't take time for any sort of lengthy prayer. No time to stop in the middle of a visit and tell a patient, "Sorry, I really need to read my Bible right now."
But there is a lot of competing input around us: human voices... patients, coworkers, family, friends.... ringtones.... radio, TV, computer.... news reports... COVID-19 updates (legit and not-so-legit).
How do we hear God in all that, let alone talk to him in prayer?
We hide in his presence.
Psalm 31:19-20 (New Living Translation)
19 How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world.
20 You hide them in the shelter of your presence,
safe from those who conspire against them.
You shelter them in your presence,
far from accusing tongues. Amen
