Matthew 5:44–45 - Enemies

Yesterday, I read from Matthew 5:45.
God wakes bad people up every morning with sunshine, and provides them with rain when they need it.

The application?
God blesses people who don't deserve it, including us.

But there's more to it than that. (It always pays to read Bible verses in context.)
Jesus said:
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:44–45 (NASB95)

What person in your life has caused you aggravation, grief, embarrassment, hurt, distrust, anger, fear? Basically, anything negative. That would be an "enemy."
Can you visualize them? What is their name?

You know where this is going!
That face, that name you just identified...
How will you show them love the next time you see them?
Perhaps a good place to start is praying for them before you see them.

Father,
Forgive us for not loving ornery, even evil people the way You do.
Bless the people who have been a pain in our life.
Teach us how to love them the way You want us to.
In Jesus' name, because we need His help!  Amen
