Matthew 5:45 - Why me?

Jesus said, "...your Father who is in heaven
...causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good,
and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:45 (NASB95)

It's tough to see bad things happen to good people.
As I mentioned the other day, it's human nature to ask God, "Why?"
"Why a pandemic?" "Why is my loved one suffering?" "Why am I myself sick?"

Other questions are asked much less frequently.
Questions like:
"Why has God been so good to me?"
"Why did God give me food and clothing?"
"Why didn't things turn out worse for my family?"

God smothers people with blessings... indiscriminately.
He blesses people that we think don't deserve it.
He blesses people who truly don't deserve it.
Including you and me.

The prophet Jeremiah put it this way:
"Does not the Most High
send both calamity and good?
Why should any living mortal...
Offer complaint in view of his sins?"
Lamentations 3:38(NLT) and 39(NASB)

God above,
As we go through this day, keep us in awe of the good things around us.
We don't deserve them. We admit that we've taken countless blessings for granted.
Stir our hearts to keep on asking, 'Why have You been so good to me?' Amen.
