Zephaniah 3:17 - God Sings!

I usually write these devotionals late in the evening, when the house is quiet and I can think. And pray. And listen.

However, tired from a long day, after hearing competing voices, it can be difficult to hear God speak.
As one scripture asks, "Where is God my Creator, the one who gives songs in the night?" Job 35:10 (New Living Translation)

Sometimes those songs are the ones offered as a prayer to God (Psalm 42:8)
As David wrote,
"I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings." (Psalm 63:6–7, NLT)

But as in anything else I give to God, what do I give Him that I didn't receive in the first place? (1 Corinthians 4:7)
The songs I might offer to God are what He Himself has already sung.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT) "For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Maybe I've tried too hard to hear God speak.
Maybe God has something more beautiful than that.
Maybe God wants to sing to me!
What does that sound like?

Father in heaven, I can be so dense at times. Looking for you in the wrong places and in the wrong ways. Forgive me for being tone deaf to hearing the songs that You sing as You rejoice over me, day and night. In Jesus' name, Amen.
