1 Corinthians 2:9 - Unimaginable Blessings
In a couple of days, my wife and I will have been married for thirty-five years. We started celebrating early by going to a favorite pizzeria last night. While we were eating, my wife asked, "What are some of the good things from the past thirty-five years that you didn't anticipate?"
Great question!
There have been so many things that we hadn't anticipated: the depth of family relationships; ministry and career opportunities; meaningful friendships. Then there are the ways we've changed and grown in our personal lives and in our marriage.
It brought to mind 1 Corinthians 2:9 (New Living Translation)...
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
The context refers to "ultimate glory." But before the glory of a new heaven and new earth, God has blessings along that way that we can't anticipate or imagine.
In what ways has God has blessed you already? What good things have happened to you that you would not have dreamed of, otherwise?
God, teach us through blessings of the past to trust you for new blessings: now, and in eternity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
