Psalm 8:9 - Name Above All Names
Earthscape study by Paul H. Carlson
God calls His children individually by name. (Isaiah 43:1; John 10:3)
He names inanimate objects as well--like all of the stars. (Psalm 147:4)
Yet God gave Adam the task of naming the animals. (Genesis 2:19-20)
Psalm 8:6-8
6 You make him to rule over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
Not everyone is going to be an astronomer and learn the names of stars.
Not everyone is going to be a zoologist and learn the names of animals.
But of all the created world around us, what captures your attention the most?
Seriously considering the creation helps us understand the Creator!
You don't need to be a scientist to conclude, as David did in Psalm 8:1 & 9...
There is one Name that eclipses all other names.
We echo David's prayer of praise:
"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!" Amen
