Romans 14:5 - Happy Monday!

Is Monday any less important--or more important--than Sunday?

Romans 14:5 (New American Standard, 1995) "One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind."

It's alright if you observe certain days as more significant than others, but some people view each day as equally important. Just be certain that your viewpoint is based on a proper understanding of scripture.

The Living Translation puts it this way:
Romans 14:5 "In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable."

But as Paul warned the Galatians, there is a problem if,
"You are trying to earn favor with God by observing certain days or months or seasons or years." (Galatians 4:10, New Living Translation)

We gain favor with God when we live in dependence on Him, which is why we pray, "Give us this day our DAILY bread," regardless of whether it's Sunday, Monday, or any other day of the week.

God, we may not be in church today, but we want to use this day to honor and serve you. Thank you for the food and strength You give us to do just that. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

And again, "Happy Monday!"
