2 Corinthians 1:20 - Pain-Free Tonsillectomies

My boyhood doctor had two nurses in his office. One was his wife, who also handled the reception desk and record keeping. She assumed the role of a public relations officer as well. When I was told I needed a tonsillectomy, she saw the concern on my face and immediately assured me:

"When our Chucky had his tonsils out, he loved it... he got to eat all the ice cream he wanted!"

Like I said, she assumed the role of public relations. I stopped believing her after my tonsillectomy. I didn't love it. I didn't even want Jello, let alone ice cream.

God doesn't promise a life without pain, let alone pain-free tonsillectomies. But when He makes a promise, we know He's not leading us astray and He'll follow through--as promised.

“For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding 'Yes!'”
(2 Corinthians 1:20, New Living Translation)

Give us discernment, Father, to understand the promises of Your word. Forgive our doubts and give us greater faith to trust that what You say will actually happen in Your time and in Your way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
