Psalm 127:2 - Sleeping through the blessings

Yesterday, there was more than one patient who slept through my visit with them. My presence seemed to make no difference, not to mention my prayers and singing.

So do the patients who are awake "get more" out of such visits? Someone can be put on an IV drip, etc. even if they're asleep. But our hospice team does more than dispense meds and change dressings, etc. What of any comfort or encouragement?

Consider Psalm 127:2.
God "gives to His beloved even in his sleep." (NASB95)
or "God provides for those he loves even while they sleep" (NIrV)

I realize that some translations render it as:
"God gives rest to his loved ones" (NLT)
or "He grants sleep to those he loves" (NIV)

Regardless, God's gifts to us not only include sleep itself. He keeps giving to us while we are totally unaware of all that He's doing for us.

God in Heaven, Encourage us to treat our fellow humans with the same generous kindness, whether they are aware of it or not. In Jesus' name, Amen.
