Proverbs 16:3 - Guaranteed Success

Usually when we hear that word "commitment," we think of someone being very committed to:
1. A cause
2. A person
3. Or lesser things... like their job, their hobbies, etc.

At the heart of it is the idea of "committing," entrusting one's resources and energies toward something or someone. All in the effort to succeed: in the cause, in the relationship.

There are days, though, that I have so many things going on at the same time, so many responsibilities simultaneously pulling on my heart and mind, that I start to lose focus on what's important.

Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed."
(New Living Translation, 2015)

Committing our actions to God so that we succeed does not mean submit our daily schedule to God just so He can rubber stamp it with, "Success Guaranteed." That's like saying, "I plan to rob a bank today, I committed it to God, so now He will bless my efforts."

Rather, as we lay out our plans before God, He will protect us from the bad options and point us toward priorities that will succeed in following Him.

Father, Today we commit ourselves to you, and in so doing we commit to your our agendas and schedules, our hopes and plans. Keep our priorities in line with Yours; focus our minds and hearts on what's important. Bless us with success in doing the things that will please You. Amen.
